Hex Appeal is Massive Studios' voodoo slot, and it has been around a while, but it's one of the Juice titles now reaching a lot more casinos. A tall five reel grid with card suit dice, voodoo dolls, skulls and top hats, and the real action comes from the ghost feature. Ghost symbols drop coins and instant prizes, from 1 to 5000 times your bet, and multiplier symbols are collected off the reels and multiply everything when the round is over.

Scatters trigger the free games, and here's the clever bit. Before they start, a wheel decides how many games you get, six, eight, ten or twelve, and which symbols get knocked out of the book. A crystal ball can add one, two, three or five extra games on top. Max win is 25,000 times your stake, and 50,000 when you're using an enhancer or a bonus buy.

The RTP on the enhancer is 96.5 percent and the first bonus buy is 96.69 percent. You can also pay two times your bet for four times the chance of free games, or buy in from 100 times upwards, with the top bonus at 1000. In our demo we bought the first bonus at 100 times, got 12 free games, and finished with about a 1.15 times return on the price.

One run, nothing more. It's the most inventive of the Massive games we've looked at, and the pre-bonus wheel adds a real sense of occasion. 7.5 out of 10.
